EMREase
There is a critical shortage of pharmacists in South Africa, particularly in the public sector. Public sector health institutions are also characterised by long queues at admissions and pharmacy dispensing.
EMREase is designed to facilitate routine high volume processes that are essential but are also the bottlenecks at hospitals. EMREase consists of two modules namely a patient administration (i.e. PAS) and a pharmaceutical dispensing module (i.e. ReMed).
The system handles the processing of outpatient, inpatients, their transfers, deaths and discharges. It also allows the pharmacy to produce and print labels in advance, for the patient’s medication.
EMREase decreases patient admission and pharmacy dispensing times thereby reducing that the cost of dispensing pharmaceuticals, and ensuring that a pharmacist’s time  is used effectively.
EMREase is unique in that it balances the need for management information with an essential data set that is key to hospital processes.

EMREase is currently being used in 27 public health institutions and has produced tangible results that have delighted hospital and pharmacy managers.

"A year after the installation of REMED Terry's dispensing statistics are still impressive – over 141 service points are supplied, the average price per script has been kept to a mere R56.80, 15000 – 18000 patients are recorded on the data base, and a minimum of 1,500 scripts are dispensed and distributed daily!"

EMREase Quotes
"It was a very sweet moment when the first script was captured and the labels came rolling out." Dave Gooden commenting about rolling ReMed at Edendale's ARV pharmacy.

"ReMed has reduced our dispensing time by about 50%.  Using ReMed is as simple as falling off a log and is a nice baby to use." - Mr G. Greffrath (Emmaus Hospital).
